Hannah Perry

Perry produces short films, creates installations, prints and live performances. Her films are a collage of sounds and footage, which she documents herself and collects from other disparate sources. Eroding distinctions between her own footage and that of others, Perry’s videos evoke an in-between space, somewhere between intimate confession and public performance, occupied by a generation inclined toward hyperactive distribution. Perry edits at a pace which pulsates and fast- forwards, slows down, rewinds and reverses. Through excessive filtering and compression, the audio and video quality deteriorates, while faces and conversations are drowned out in the noise.

Recent solo projects include Mercury Retrograde, Seventeen, London; ICA Off-Site: Hannah Perry, London; You’re Gonna Be Great, Jeanine Hofland, Amsterdam; Always, Steve Turner Contemporary, Los Angeles; Zabludowicz Collection Invites: Hannah Perry, the Zabludowicz Collection, London; and Horoscopes (Déjà Vu), Serpentine Gallery, London. Perry received a MA from The Royal Academy of Arts, London and a BA from Goldsmiths College, London.
