Daniel Keller & Martti Kalliala

×

Daniel Keller’s wide-ranging artistic output engages with issues at the intersection of economics, technology, culture and collaboration. His current focus is on notions of progress, technological disruption, and ‘exit’, all viewed from the perspective of the 'prosumer imagineer' artist operating within the global networked economy. As half of Aids-3D, he has exhibited internationally since 2007. In 2012 he became Director of Absolute Vitality Inc, a Wyoming based corporation-sculpture co-owned by the artist, his gallery and a group of private collectors. He co-organised TEDxVaduz with Simon Denny, held at the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein in December 2013. In 2014, he was an artist in residence at Casa Maauad, Mexico City; Siliqoon, MAMbo, Bologna and Wysing Art Centre, Cambridge, UK. Recent exhibitions include The Future of Memory, Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; Open Source: Art at the Eclipse of Capitalism, Galerie Max Hetzer, Berlin and the solo exhibition Kai ♥ Dalston Bushwick at Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler.

Martti Kalliala is an architect whose work focuses on the identification, conceptualisation and visualisation of emerging spatial conditions. He recently curated and organised the symposia series A Thousand Islands, an extended discussion on boundaries, limits, islands, enclaves/exclaves and states of exception as spatial protocols. In collaboration with artist/writer Jenna Sutela and PWR Studio, Kalliala produced Disruption Begins at Home – a speculative investigation into the ethos of homeownership under an financialised economy of debt. He is also the editor and co-author of Solution 239-246, Finland: The Welfare Game, published by Sternberg Press, and a recipient of the Mobius 2014 curatorial / research fellowship in New York, under which he realised the symposium Ultimate Exit in collaboration with the Van Alen Institute. The symposium was conceived as part of Kalliala’s long-term research initiative, investigating globally occurring, technologically enabled and spatially articulated forms of exodus, autonomy, sovereignty and withdrawal. Alongside his work as an architect, he has under several aliases, sustained a longstanding international career in electronic music.
