Anaïs Duplan was born in Jacmel, Haiti. She earned her B.A. from Bennington College in Poetry and Discourse Studies. She is currently an MFA candidate at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She is the author of a collection of poems, Take This Stallion (Brooklyn Arts Press, 2016), and two forthcomings books: Mount Carmel and the Blood of Parnassus (Monster House Press) and Blackspace, a book of essays and interviews on Black subjectivity, slated for publication in 2018 by Black Ocean. She is the founding curator at the Center for Afrofuturist Studies, an artist residency program for new media artists of color in Iowa City.
