There is a point in time where it ends. The open sea.

Flared shot ends taken from 16mm footage of the Iguazu waterfalls in Argentina show falling masses of water, spray and some foliage in flaming colours. The original images have been digitally reduced in velocity. Dirtparticles and scratches on the film's surface become clearly visible. Taking a daylight spool loaded with exposed film out of the camera in order to process it means that a few feet of the end will be fogged (exposed). Considered unsuitable for commercial purposes these shot ends usually get discarded. As it emphasizes the singular qualities of analog film, »There is a point in time where it ends. the open sea.« commemorates the closing of Austria's last professional film lab.
