Zata Banks, Curator

Zata Banks is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and she is a curator, artist and brand specialist. She founded the PoetryFilm research art project in 2002 and her work focuses on semiotics, language, transcreation and multimodality, exploring the creation, perception, communication and experience of emotion and meaning.

PoetryFilm is the influential research art project and screening series founded by Zata Banks FRSA in 2002 to celebrate experimental text/image/sound screening and performance artworks. Since 2002, PoetryFilm has produced over 90 events at cinemas, galleries, literary festivals and academic institutions – including Tate Britain, The ICA, Southbank Centre, Cannes Film Festival, CCCB Barcelona, O Miami, Freud Museum London, and Picturehouse and Curzon Cinemas. PoetryFilm is one of the British Council’s listed Experimental Film organisations and is an accredited member of Film Hub London, part of the BFI Audience Network.

Zata Banks has selected 6 artists from the PoetryFilm Archive to be commissioned to create one work each for Daata Editions. The artists are Laura Focarazzo, Kate Jessop, C.O. Moed, Julian Scordato, Susanne Wiegner, Antoinette Zwirchmayr.
